Life with a Twist of Lime

Good days or bad, life is never boring with a twist of lime.

I’m going bald

I started noticing it just before I left for RT in Daytona (May), but I was in such a rush and thought maybe it was just the way he cut my hair. After I got back I noticed when I washed my hair that lots of it was coming out but I just thought it was from the highlight (maybe it was damaged and causing the snarling mess). Then when it was time for more highlights I told him not to put them in cause I thought that was causing the hair loss.

My hairdresser showed me that the hair coming out (at this point even running my fingers through my hair cause some to come out) was coming out from the roots and not breaking off. He also showed me the new growth coming through so it wasn’t so bad. Still it’s thinned out so much that it’s really noticeable now.

So I’ve got a call into the doctor about seeing what’s going on. My hairdresser also asked about my finger nails…yes, they’re breaking off really bad too but I’ve never had really great nails so I didn’t really notice that until he mentioned it.

So before I’m bald and nothing but nubs for nails let’s hope I can find out what’s going on.

*Sigh*

And before you ask, yes I’m eating lots of healthy fruits, veggies, fish, poultry and even beef…and no I’m not stressing over anything…well nothing but being bald and nubby nailed.

Think hormones, changes in those litte buggers can cause all sorts of problems, hair loss being one of them.

My hair thinned quite a bit about 4 or 5 years ago and got curlier.

Also sometimes the changes your body goes through as you lose weight will cause temporary hair lose.

I keep telling myself not to worry about it but my dad has a bald spot that gets bigger every time I see him...all I can picture is one day waking up and having a bald spot too...*shudder*.

I know what you mean about hormones though, after I had my son I went through the same thing...nothing like going through the baby blues and loosing chunks of hair too...*ggg*.

Kel - could be hormones, thyroid imbalance or just the weight loss thing.

I had the same problem and I take medication for it. No sweat. Just be sure to tell your doc about it so they run the right tests on you. :-)

Oh and you need to fix your blogger thing to allow anonymous comments so those without a blogger account can still comment. ;-)

I have an appointment to go in and see her for my 6 month check on the other. I talked to her nurse and she said they would check it out when I come in...*fingers crossed*...I'm telling myself it's not a big deal just want to check it out to be sure...*g*

Thanks, I fixed it so anyone can post...*G*
