Title: Falling Awake
Author: Jayne Ann Krentz
Year Published: November 2004
Why did you buy this book?
I picked up this book because I’m a long time fan of JAK (she’s an auto-buy for me). As you can tell this book has gotten shuffled way down in my TBR pile and forgotten.
Do you like the cover?
I liked the cover because the couple looks steamy and in what looks like a foggy back ground a car driving down the empty road makes you wonder about it. I have the paperback copy.
Did you enjoy the book?
I really enjoyed the story. It was a roller coaster ride filled with murder, mayhem and a secret government agency that used dreams as an investigative tool. Isobel was a dream interpreter for the Belvedere Center until she finds her boss, the head of the center dead and is fired by his heir. While working at the center she had two clients known only to her by Client Number One and Client Number Two. Client Number Two (Ellis), whom she dubbed Dream Man tracks her down and together they starts unraveling secrets that plagued her while working at the Belvedere Center and Ellis while working for the government agency. During their search for a killer Isabel and Ellis find a passion that makes all their dreams dim in comparison. In the mean time her former boss is trying to figure out why dreams and two clients kept the Belvedere Center up and running for over 20 years.
The story will keep you one the edge of your seat until the end…and don’t think you’ve figured it out because you haven’t, it’s filled with twist and turns until the very last chapter.
Was the author new to you and would you read something by this author again?
This author is an auto-buy as I mentioned before and yes I’ll be reading more of her books. As a matter of fact when I was looking for this book, I came across a few other books of hers that have been shuffled off my main TBR pile so I’ve pulled them out and I plan on reading them soon (they include “Light in Shadow” and “Truth or Dare”).
Are you keeping this book or passing it on?
I loved the book so it’s a keeper for that reason but JAK is a keeper auto-buy/keeper author for me anyway so I would keep it for that reason too (I’m just excited it’s a book I enjoy re-reading).
Anything else?
This is the third book I pulled out of my TBR pile to read for this challenge. The first book I couldn’t really get into so I had to just put it down (eventually I passed it along). The second book I finished but didn’t enjoy. I read it through because I like the story idea but didn’t like the wordy execution so decided I couldn’t review it. I searched further in my TBR mountain, which is actually several spots around the house hence the forgotten titles in my stash. When I came across this book, I knew it would be a guaranteed keeper and I was right. I’m really glad I decided to take part in this challenge because it made me search through books I forgot I bought. I’ve enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the other JAK books I have in my TBR stash…thanks Angie, for helping me lower my TBR mountain by three books (and more)…*G*

You know I like Jayne Ann Krentz too, but for some reason don't read very many of her books.
I know what you mean, it's like I forget about them...then something brings them to my attention and I go on a JAK reading fest...*G*
